Villalobos Brothers Special Double Show
July 31, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm| $20 - $25
The Poppy is especially honored to welcome the Villalobos Brothers, as their hopeful lyrics invite an optimism that seamlessly aligns with the Poppy’s mission as a socially conscious art space in the heart of the Mission. The brothers are known for masterfully blending the indigenous rhythms and melodies of their native Veracruz, Mexico with the intricate harmonies of jazz and classical music. A trio of virtuoso violinists, singers, composers and arrangers, they have performed at the Latin Grammy Awards, Carnegie Hall, and many other prestigious venues. In 2013, after touring Mexico to critical acclaim, they won the coveted title of “Best Band in New York City” in NPR’s Battle of the Boroughs.

“I am glad I lived long enough to see you! This is amazing! All I can say is, I hope the world gets to experience this. Before starting you said something very important, you said: “we try to embody the miracle of music”…well, you certainly are a carrier of that disease…may we all catch it!…I don’t know what else to say, I am speechless!” -Marion J. Caffey, Producer of “Amateur Night” at the Apollo Theatre
