Tulio Araujo and the Dobradura Project: “Monduland” Album Release

November 8, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

$15 – $20

Brazilian percussionist Tulio Araujo returns to the Poppy with a project that’s two years in the making: A contemporary jazz ensemble (bass, piano, 7-string guitar) built around the pandeiro, a tambourine-style frame drum ubiquitous in Brazilian music. Expect tunes from his new album, Monduland, along with a rainbow of surprising grooves and harmonic colors.

FEATURING:
Tulio Araujo – pandeiro
Lucas Telles – 7-string guitar
Igor Neves – piano
Felipe Vilas Boas – guitar

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Tulio Araujo, who has degrees in percussion, music production, and sound engineering, has studied with some of Brazil’s most renowned music masters, including Ian Guest, Felipe Moreira, Santiago Reyther, and Marcos Suzano. Monduland, his third album, reflects his deep studies of harmonic, melodic, rhythmic, and metric modulation.
