Joining forces in a brand new jazz project called The Miniwatt String Quartet are violinist John Ettinger, guitarists Myles Boisen and Jon Preuss, and bassist Todd Sickafoose. An affectionate, gritty and ethereal, occasionally deconstructed take on the Hot Club concept and beyond, these musicians are bringing their vast and varied experience to focus on the great American songbook, and more.
Between them they’ve played or recorded with musicians such as Tom Waits, John Zorn, Fred Frith, Eugene Chadbourne, Nels Cline, Ani DiFranco, Vernon Reid, Trey Gunn, Honeycut, Yoko Ono, Trey Anastasio, Beth Custer, Scott Amendola, Tony Malaby, and lots more.
John Ettinger: violin

San Francisco Chronicle calls Todd Sickafoose “a captivating improviser, imaginative composer, and master of collaboration.”
Allaboutjazz.com said “Ettinger’s melodicism is as acute in improvisation as it is in composition, and this makes for an immediate connection with the listener.”
