TARIMBA: Son Jarocho y Sur América

TARIMBA explores a rich variety of Latin American genres including boleros, Cuban son, landó and cumbia. TARIMBA is a collective comprised of local Bay Area musicians who have embraced the traditional genre of Son Jarocho music from southern Veracruz, Mexico.

 

Performers:
Kyla Danysh – violin, jarana segunda & vocals
Lolis García – jarana tercera, zapateado, quijada & vocals
Pedro Rosales – cajón peruano & vocals
Aladino Manyoma – guitar & vocals

The core members of TARIMBALolis García and Kyla Danysh, are experienced multi-instrumentalists who actively perform and teach in the Bay Area music community. Pedro Rosales, co-founder and former artistic director of De Rompe y Raja Cultural Association and leader of Proyecto Lando, is an accomplished cajón player and percussionist in the Afro-Peruvian tradition. Aladino Manyoma is a celebrated sonero and multi-instrumentalist from Colombia.

Admission: $10-15. Doors at 7:00pm. Show at 7:30pm. All ages welcome.

Tickets will not be sold in advance for this event. Please arrive at the Red Poppy when doors open to purchase tickets.
