Singer/songwriter Sarah Cabral returns to the Poppy with percussionist Alex Calatayud and special guest guitarist Julio Lemos for an evening of contemporary repertoire and Brazilian classics from the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s.

Sarah Cabral, born in southern Brazil, often explores multiple musical genres, from traditional and popular Brazilian music to modern jazz, avant-garde, and classical. She studied at the California Jazz Conservatory with mentor Marcos Silva, with whom she continues to collaborate. In 2012, she was part of “Forty Years of Brazilian Masterpieces,” with Carlos Oliveira and Ricardo Peixoto, and since 2013, Cabral has worked with Vagabundo Records and the legendary Bororo Felipe and Fabiano Chagas on musical exchanges and performances between California and Brazil. Her 2015 Sarah Cabral EP, which she also produced, presents a contemporary approach to Brazilian classics. Cabral currently lives and studies in New York City.
