Masha Campagne & Ian Faquini: Intimate Brazilian Encounters

March 24, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

$15 – $20

Vocalist, songwriter, and producer Masha Campagne once again collaborates with young guitar star Ian Faquini to explore the treasure trove of Brazilian music. Expect their reverent tributes to Tom Jobim, Ivan Lins, and Guinga–as well as their own original compositions–to transport you to a sensuous dreamland rich with quiet fire and deep soul.

Featuring:
Masha Campagne – vocals, melodica, percussion
Ian Faquini – acoustic guitar
Harvey Wainapel – reeds
Brian Rice – percussion

With two internationally acclaimed CDs to her credit and performances at legendary venues such Yoshi’s, Kuumbwa, Monterey Jazz, and Zinc Bar, Masha Campagne is considered one of most lauded new voices in San Francisco. Her gorgeous interpretations of soulful Brazilian bossas effectively convey the blend of happiness and intimacy of this music.

Ian Faquini, a veteran of Berkeley High’s renowned jazz program, became an apprentice to the great Brazilian guitarist/composer Guinga at age 16. His 2016 debut, Metal na Madeira (“Metal on Wood”), showcases his rare chordal technique and singular compositional skills while reflecting the exuberant yet wistful aspects of music from the northeast part of Brazil.
