Larry Vuckovich brings his Beyond Category diverse jazz repertoire to the Red Poppy, performing swinging bebop/post-bop, contemporary jazz, Latin-Afro Cuban / Brazilian, Mexican boleros, Blues-Jazz Funk, Jazz Tango, Balkan/Middle Eastern, and more. Performers: Larry Vuckovich (piano), Michael Zisman (bass), Austin Harris (drums).
San Francisco pianist Larry Vuckovich has been an accompanist, bandleader and world-jazz pioneer over seven decades. His latest album “Somethin’ Special” is exactly that, according to jazz critic Andrew Gilbert:
