August 11, 2012 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm

$10 – $15

Country Blues Meets Jewish Liturgy

Saturday, August 11

Jeremiah Lockwood’s band, The Sway Machinery, has made its mark around the world performing at festivals ranging from the Festival of the Desert in Timbuktu to Roskilde Festival in Denmark. His musical training included singing in the choir for his grandfather, Cantor Jacob Konigsberg and a decade plus of busking in the New York subways with Piedmont blues legend Carolina Slim. He received the Six Points Fellowship and more recently was a Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra Composer Fellow. The Sway Machinery continues to tour the world.

Charming Hostess is a music ensemble at the intersection of voice, text and diaspora consciousness. Founded by Jewlia Eisenberg, Charming Hostess is now presenting Gramophone and Dynamo centered around the violent, sexy, anti-authoritarian music of Salonika.
