Jeffrey Burr is lauded for his combination of effortless bebop and a winsome chordal technique, which he uses to build the harmonic qualities of his songs. His preferred stylistic approach emphasizes mainstream straight-ahead jazz influence, using his voice as the primary expressive force, Jeffrey utilizes his music to explore narratives as he believes in forming an emotional connection with the listener, creating satisfying musical experiences and blurring the distinction between art and entertainment. His latest recording, featuring mostly his own compositions, is entitled Bright Blue.

Featuring:
Eric Markowitz – bass
Hamir Atwal – drums
Jeffrey Burr – guitar

More on Jazz in the Neighborhood:
The mission of Jazz in the Neighborhood is to celebrate and invigorate the Bay Area’s rich, musical jazz heritage by creating more opportunities for established local musicians to perform, mentor aspiring players, and share this great American art form with the community. Through collaboration with school music programs and adult big bands, the project enables top-caliber artists to push creative boundaries while helping developing musicians “learn on the bandstand” according to the great jazz tradition. Performances in neighborhood venues not only showcase the wealth of local talent, but also create regular destinations for people to enjoy rich cultural and social experiences where they live.
