Homenagem Brasileira: Tribute to Brazilian Composers

January 17, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

$15 – $20

“In this Homage to Brazil, vocalist Sandy Cressman has followed her heart in selecting material from across the musical spectrum.  The result is an exhilarating overview of some of Brazil’s finest artists and composers. ” – Bud Spangler, Sunday Night Suites, KCSM-FM

Sandy Cressman’s Homenagem Brasileira embraces the diversity of Brazil’s musical traditions. Cressman’s deep connection with Brazilian music began in college when she was first introduced to the music of Ivan Lins, Flora Purim, and Djavan. Her intrigue eventually led her to study Portuguese and build a diverse Brazilian repertoire. In 1999 she collaborated with Brazilian master keyboardist Marcos Silva on the critically acclaimed CD Homenagem Brasileira, a tribute to the great composers and perfoemrs of Brazilian Jazz ,and released her second album on Brazilian music in 2005, entitled Brasil-Sempre no Coração. Since then, Cressman has brought her talent and Brazilian music across the U.S., and in Europe and Japan. For this special evening, the quintet, joined by trombonist Jeff Cressman (Carlos Santana band) will be presenting material from her upcoming collaboration CD Entre Amigos.
