Cairo Guitar Collective: New Compositions by Egyptian Composers

Cairo Guitar Collective performs newly commissioned works by Egypt’s best composers. The program features Bahaa El Ansary’s avant-garde trio for two guitars and oud (Love the sounds, which sounds, as it sounds), Ashraf Fouad’s tuneful guitar trio (Tre Angoli), Amr Okba’s sensual guitar duet (A Case for Meditation), as well as Karim Frege’s playful guitar duet (The Silk Road).

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Cairo Guitar Collective (CGC) is dedicated to the performance of quality works for small guitar ensembles and is comprised of some of the best classical guitarists in Egypt. CGC offers its audience the experience of hearing the guitar played in surprising ways. The collective’s mission is to perform beyond Egypt as representatives of Egypt’s music culture; commission new compositions for guitar duet, trio, and quartet; unite a community of classical guitar enthusiasts throughout Egypt; provide professional performance experience for aspiring classical guitarists; conduct educational outreach presentations and workshops throughout Egypt; and spread awareness of AUC’s Bachelor of Musical Arts degree program.
