A brand new ensemble led by Jazz Mafia founder Adam Theis includes 4 of the most multi-faceted Bay Area string players on the scene: Dina Maccabee, Alisa Rose, Matthew Szemela and Lewis Patzner. The ensemble features many new works written by Theis for the unique instrumentation of strings and trombone. In this setting Adam takes his trademark rhythm-based/melodic compositional style usually heard in larger orchestras and strips it down to the centuries old instrumentation of the string quartet, The music features the quartet in many new musical settings and pushes the boundaries of the ensemble together and as improvisational soloists. Also included in the program will be new film scores performed live and special surprise guests.
